Things You Can See From My Desk, Yes Friends, That's a Leg Lamp

Random Access Memories

My B.A. is in philosophy. I love nothing more than discussing the meaning of life.

I went to film school when I was 17 and promptly terrified myself, but before I left I did manage to tell classmate Francis Lawrence that I thought the video track he was on was lame compared to the film track I was on. HAHAHAHA.  Please see his IMDB filmography to see how handicapped he was by his choice: The Hunger Games; Water for Elephants; I Am Legend and Constantine, among others. (And no, I didn’t keep in touch with him.)

My homebase is Colorado and I flitter between California and New York as often as possible.

Books I love: Grasshopper Jungle; Long Way Down; The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian; The Great American Whatever; Eleanor and Park; The Realm of Possibility; Tell the Wolves I'm Home; The Crossover; Sarah Plain and Tall; Everyday; The Catcher in the Rye; Naomi and Ely's No Kiss List; Will Grayson, Will Grayson; How to Talk to a Widower; The Great Gatsby; The Age of Innocence; Wuthering Heights; The Artist’s Way; The English Patient; The Unbearable Lightness of Being; The Black Stallion; Looking for Alaska; Travels with Charley; Walden; Eat, Pray, Love; Fangirl; Interview with a Vampire; On Writing; An American Tragedy; Crime and Punishment; Into Thin Air; Illusions; Charlotte’s Web; Better Nate Than Ever and 5, 6, 7 Nate; and everything by Judy Blume

Places I love: Tomorrowland, London, Paris, and my spiritual home, Greece

Mantra—Let go, receive, give, enjoy, thank you.

My husband is a unicorn.

Proud resident of Rainbow Town.

In addition to writing hundreds of published articles, I founded a PR company and served as a publicist for a range of clients, including Olympic athletes and socialites.

I've been a writer my entire life. A few years ago I wrote my first young adult manuscript. That literally changed everything for me. Because of that manuscript, I discovered the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. It was like coming home.

My mission: empowering all creatives, but especially LGBTQ+ and girls/women, to use their voices and tell their stories through written and visual communications, and social media. It’s up to us to save the world, folks.
